This is great news for all stakeholders in Texas. After ODG
Treatment was adopted in Ohio, a pilot study showed that use of ODG
reduced medical costs by 64 percent and cut lost days by 69 percent. In
addition, injured workers benefited from early access to appropriate
medical care (in one-fifth the time), and the use of ODG drew considerable
praise from doctors.
Note: Texas Labor Code 401.011 (18-a)
requires the use of current scientific and medical evidence to assist
health care providers in making decisions about the care of employees with
work-related injuries by defining "evidence-based medicine" to
mean "the use of current best quality scientific evidence and medical
evidence formulated from credible scientific studies, including
peer-reviewed literature and other current scientifically based texts, and
treatment and practice guidelines in making decisions about the care of
individual patients."
ODG Treatment Online is
the most current evidence and therefore the version of the guideline
required by TDI. The textbook is still offered at a discount for those who
would like to purchase the library, updated annually, but web access is the official "current" edition of
ODG at any
given time.
